Help Restore the Land and Water Conservation Fund

For over 50 years the Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF) helped create Wild & Wonderful. LWCF has bought lands for access to and protection of the Gauley, Cheat, and New. Using money generated from offshore oil and gas royalties, LWCF has been our most effective conservation tool in West Virginia.
It expired this year due to congressional inaction. You can help get it back. Click here to sign our petition or call your Representative.

WV Rivers in Washington DC this week advocating to restore LWCF.

Safe Water Event - Jan 9 in Charleston

WV Rivers has partnered with watershed organizations, community groups, municipal stormwater programs, state agencies, and water utilities to provide a public forum on safe water.

When: Jan. 9 - 3:00pm
Where: Culture Center, State Capitol Grounds in Charleston

Following the Jan. 9, 2014 water crisis, public water systems are now required to develop Source Water Protection Plans (SWPPs), with public input. WV Rivers developed a Drinking Water Protection Citizen Toolkit  as a guide to how you can be involved in protecting your water. At this year’s Jan. 9 event, we will distribute free copies of the toolkit and provide insight into addressing threats to the local water supply. Local partners will provide additional information on how they promote drinking water protection. There will be free food, live music, and kids’ activities. Visit our website for more information.
