Earth Day Photo Contest Winner

Congratulations Renee Hodges your photo of the trout release in the Morris Creek Watershed was the winner of our Earth Day Photo contest!

Waters of the United States Defined Under the Clean Water Act

A new guidance released by the EPA and US Army Corps of Engineers provides clarification on what waters are protected by the Clean Water Act. Previous ambiguity on what waterways were covered by the Clean Water Act led to high profile lawsuits in the previous decade.  The proposed guidance reaffirms the protection granted to streams and wetlands throughout the US.

DEA National Take-Back Initiative

The April 30 DEA National Take-Back Day was a great success. WVRC, along with our local partners, collected over 30 gallons of medications in Elkins. In West Virginia 3,200 lbs of medications were collected at 110 sites. Nationally, 5,300 sites participated collecting 188 tons. That is over a 55% increase in collected medications.
